We’ve all been waiting for a MacBook Pro refresh, and it looks like it’s coming soon according to a new report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. His sources claim the machine will have an OLED touchbar that sits above its keyboard, and built-in Touch ID.
We have photographs that show those very upgrades.
What’s in an OLED Touchbar? How about not only customizable function keys, but also the first Touch ID sensor on a Mac, built into the notebook’s power button. All this according to the report, of course. It adds:
“Incorporating it into the power button would clearly make sense, allowing the same one-touch process to power-on and authenticate as is possible with the Home button on current iPhones,”
The new MacBook Pro should be unveiled sometime in the fourth quarter of 2016. It should also have USB-C connectivity, embedded support for Thunderbolt 3, and Intel’s latest processors.
