Like the weatherman for Apple products, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is forecasting an all-new Apple Watch 2 for the second half of 2016 with a faster processor, GPS, barometer, superior waterproofing, new, thinner display and a higher capacity battery. It will apparently retain the same screen sizes and thickness as present models, with a similar form factor overall, despite adopting thinner display technology. Although the Apple Watch 2 was rumored to include cellular connectivity, he does not expect it will happen until next year.
Kuo released this information through a research note to investors today.
It is also possible a second (upgraded first generation) Apple Watch with similar processor and waterproofing upgrades, but without GPS and barometer will be announced in the coming months. Apple will most likely announce the new Watch this Sept when it debuts the iPhone 7 in a months time.
Other rumours such as Facetime Camera, expanded Wi-Fi capabilities, and new health monitoring functions in the Apple Watch 2 are still unknown.
