Apple’s iPhone 7 may include a flush 3D Touch Home button says Digitimes. The button would be flush with the body of the iPhone and would not actually depress when a finger is placed on it.
This would allow the iPhone to become much thinner, a rumour that has stated that this iPhone will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date.
When a user presses the home button, haptic feedback will mimic a press, much like the Force Touch track pad on Apple’s most recent MacBook line. With haptic feedback, users will feel the sensation of pressing a button even though there’s no actual button to press.
The removal of the headphone jack as well as the addition of a 3D Touch Home Button could significantly increase the water resistance of the iPhone making this rumour quite plausible.
